Survivor Series

I must admit a guilty pleasure and secret desire of mine is to be on the show survivor. I am ok with it. In the hope of continuing to practice until the day I make it on the show, I have begun the Survivor Biology Series of lessons that I am developing on off days when not much will be happening. It is packaged as experimental design but the truth is it is something fun and hands on to do and help my students think like a scientist.

Todays challenge: You are stranded on a deserted island and you only have some scrap plastic, sticks and duct tape. You must make a device to turn saltwater into freshwater.

The goal

I have set a new goal for life. In March there is an adventure race that I really want to enter in. It is basically an outdoors tri consisting of kayaking, mtn biking, and trekking all done by map skills. Should be a lot of fun. But the training starts now. Been getting better at biking places but its to dang cold. I am too much of a wuss right now. But I did by clipless pedals which should offer a laugh to anyone watching me learn to use them the first time.
